Mimer AI Factory exists to make modern AI easier to adopt and easier to use. We work directly with companies and public organisations to help them apply AI in ways that create real value. Our goal is simple: enable practical, trustworthy AI that strengthens competitiveness in Sweden and across Europe.
A modern source of knowledge and intelligence
In Scandinavian mythology, the Well of Mimer (Mimir) is a magical source of knowledge and wisdom. Our AI Factory serves as the modern-day equivalent source of technological innovation and intelligence.
Mimer is part of the EU’s ambitious AI Factories initiative which currently includes 19 different sites across Europe. All these Factories offer access to AI-optimised supercomputers and services such as training and support to SMEs, startups, researchers, and government agencies. The aim is to advance innovation, boost the adoption of AI and make Europe a leading AI continent.
Our strategic focus areas
Mimer has four focus areas which are of strategic importance to Sweden: life sciences, materials sciences, autonomous systems and the gaming industry. But to be absolutely clear, we welcome clients from all fields and trades so don’t hesitate to contact us! Thanks to the AI Factories network we can facilitate access to expertise and resources that best meet your specific needs.
Community & activities
Mimer has physical hubs in Stockholm and Linköping where we are hosting meet-ups, workshops and organising events. More hubs are being established across Sweden. We are just getting started!
Our infrastructure
The Mimer AI Factory also includes a new dedicated AI-optimised supercomputer. It will be installed in Linköping and is expected to come online in 2026. Until then, we will run projects on existing systems provided by EuroHPC centres.
We are hosted by NAISS (the National Academic Infrastructure for Supercomputing in Sweden) in partnership with RISE Research Institutes of Sweden. Funding is shared between Sweden (through the Swedish Research Council and Vinnova, Sweden’s Innovation Agency) and the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking, which is the EU’s supercomputer organisation.
